[br][br]Fred B. Utter, Jr.
Age 84, peacefully entered into eternal rest on June 1, 2014 at his home in Tucson, AZ. He was surrounded by his children as he joined our Lord and his beloved wife of 58 years, Nancy who preceded him in death on March 2, 2012. He is survived by his children Cindy Taylor, Carol O'Cell, Rick Utter and Laura Utter. Fred has 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.
Born April 29, 1930 in Los Angeles, CA, his family moved to Spokane, WA in 1941 when his father, Fred Utter Sr. became the Cadillac and Pontiac dealer in Spokane. Fred Utter Jr was the owner of Utter Motor Company from 1965 until he retired in 1989.
He served in the USAF, was a member of many civic, social and charitable organizations and he and Nancy were founding members of the Spokane Racquet Club and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Spokane. Later on, First Presbyterian became their church home in Spokane.
Fred was an avid bike rider and over the years enjoyed sailing at Priest Lake, playing tennis, snow and water skiing, scuba diving, and of course he always enjoyed a good laugh. After retirement he and Nancy traveled extensively with friends and wintered in Tucson, Arizona. Nine years ago they moved to Tucson permanently making their church home there at Northminster Presbyterian where he was a Deacon. Fred and Nancy especially enjoyed it when friends from Spokane would visit them in Tucson and also when they would come back to Spokane to visit friends and family.

RETTKOWSKI, WENDELL M
[br][br]Wendell Max Rettkowski formerly of Wilbur, passed away on Thursday June 26, 2014 in Kennewick. He was preceeded in death by father Max, mother Lillian and sister Yolonda. He is survived by his former wife Mary Ann Pavel.
Born June 3, 1935 he lived on the family farm until his retirement in 2007 at which time he moved to Airway Heights. Wendell graduated from Wilbur High School and served in the US Army. During his service he was stationed in Germany and true to his inquisitive nature learned all he could about the people and culture.
Wendell was a man devoted to farming, family and facts. From childhood Wendell participated in all aspects of farming, taking over the management of the farm when his father passed away. He took pride in not pulverizing the land. In addition to raising wheat and barley he maintained a small herd of sheep. He believed that most farmers wasted 98% of available forage and used his sheep as a matter of good stewardship.
He was a man of integrity who was generous to those he loved. He provided for his mother until her death. Even after her mind slipped to the point of no longer knowing him, he did not fail to regularly visit her in the nursing home. His devotion to Mary Ann continued until death. Wendell regarded true friends as extended family and they him. He was a man who was brutally honest, had a flawless memory and lived to high moral standards.
In 1980 the Washington Coaches Association awarded Wendell with a special award and plaque. As "Super Fan" he was an avid follower who attended hundreds of high school sporting events every year. He traveled throughout the state to see the best teams, sometimes catching two or three games in a single day. The only tournaments he missed where during his military service. Wendell kept meticulous records with hand written notes, stats, newspaper clippings and official programs. Coaches would take the time to talk with him and later as tournaments approached they would contact him for his insight of their opponents. His collection became the basis for the research for the book, "Remembering the B" by Jim Stinson.
Those that loved him, will miss him. There is no substitute for the impact that Wendell had in the lives of those that embraced him. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday July 10, 2014 in Wilbur, Washington at the Lutheran Church. A reception will follow with interment at 2:00PM.

Born in Spokane, WA to Raymond and Ruth Burch, she graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School and the University of Idaho.
June retired in 1990 after a 30 year teaching career. She was also a long time member of P.E.O Chapter EW.
June was preceded in death by both parents and sisters, Raye McGinnis, Kaye Carlson and Dianne Higgins.
Survived by her children, Kim Tracy (Tammy), Todd Tracy (Julie), Lisa Johnson (Stan) and sisters, Donna Quane, Phyllis Peters (Don), Ruth Carole Hayman, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

DECHAND, MICHAEL L
[br][br]Passed away peacefully on June 23rd surrounded by loved ones. He was born Sept. 18, 1946 in Chewelah, Wa where he graduated from Jenkins H.S. in 1964. Michael was born to Arthur & Ruby (Hunter) Dechand & was older brother to Jay & Ward. He had great memories of times at the farm on the Burnt Valley, his sheep winning Grand Champion at the fair and achieving Order of the Arrow in Boy Scounts. Michael served in the Army from Oct. 1964 to Oct. 1967, spending 18 months of that as a flying crew chief in the 54th Aviation Company. Michael had various jobs until 1972 when he started working at Ryerson Steel, where he retired in 2001 after 29 years. Retirement left him time to enjoy a long time dream, the log home he designed, built and rarely wanted to leave. Michael had many fond memories of building & riding choppers, camping & off-roading, days at Priest Lake and times with family & friends. Michael will be remembered as a wise, loving, funny & intelligent Husband and father. Michael leaves behind his wife Leanne (Keefer), son Andrew (Michelle), daughter Brenda (Sean), grandson Zane, brothers Jay & Ward (Beverley). Many extended family and friends. They served the Lutheran Church in Dallas OR (1946-51), Pullman WA (1953-72) and Spokane WA (1972) until Karl's death in 1981. Phyllis moved to Tacoma in 1993. She is survived by son, Steven Ufer (Valerie), daughter Sharon Ufer Lavell (husband Paul), granddaughter Kristina Ufer Ngai (Jeffrey).

CARRIER, SANDRA L
[br][br]Sandy was born in Havre, Montana to Edwin and Viola Freier. The first-born of six siblings, she lived a complete life full of family, friends, and faith. She passed away peacefully in Lakewood, Colorado.
Sandy graduated from Havre High School in 1964. After earning a Nursing degree at Montana State University, she dedicated herself to a caring and compassionate career as a nurse in Spokane, Washington.
She possessed an adventurous and spontaneous spirit, enjoying the outdoors of the Northwest and frequenting area lakes and rivers for weekend camping and fishing trips. She was a loving and supportive mother, raising two sons on Spokane's South Hill, running shuttle and cheering at soccer games, tennis matches, bicycle races, and skiing trips. Many a rose bush lived a healthy, colorful life in her garden. Her infectious optimism and kind heart affected everyone she met. The world was made brighter by her smile, sense of humor, and gentle demeanor.
A proud and defining accomplishment of her life was recovery and commitment to Alcoholics Anonymous for over 30 years, made possible by her limitless faith in the Lord. Indeed, she was a lifetime member of the church and placed her life direction in the hands of Jesus Christ.

Two grandchildren, the light of her life, Chase and Duncan Carrier.

All who knew Sandy are invited to join in her remembrance. A celebration of Sandy's life will take place at 10:00AM on Monday, July 21st at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church at 410 5th Avenue in Havre, MT.
Interment ceremony will follow at Highland Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her loving parents.
An informal gathering of storytelling, memory-sharing, and fellowship will be held at 1:00PM at the Duck Inn at 1300 1st Street.

[br][br]Raymond Francis "Ray" Walter, much loved father, brother, uncle & friend, formerly of Spokane, WA, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ray was born in Iowa City, Iowa to the late Arthur Raymond Walter & Berniece Droll Walter. He served in the US Army. The one real love of his life was his only daughter, Wendy Walter of Santa Fe, NM, who survives him along with her fiancée, Loal Tucker & his children, Loal P. & Abrie of Santa Fe. He also leaves his ex-wife, Bobbie Walter of Cedar Crest, NM & stepsons Joel Gonzalez of Montana & Kelly Terhaar of No. Carolina. He is survived by sisters, Kathleen Ascencio (Nelson) of Port Orchard, WA; Donna Soderberg (the late Richard) of Spokane, WA; Judy Nelson (Pete) of Germantown, TN & many friends, all of whom he loved dearly.
