
[br][br]JUUL, James (Jim), born March 3, 1943 in Spokane, Washington to Walter and Elowyn Juul, passed away at home surrounded by his family after a 9 month battle with leiomyosarcoma cancer on March 18, 2015. Jim was a lifelong resident of Spokane. He was married almost 50 years to his loving wife, Sharon. He was the proud father of two sons, Derek (Melissa) and Steven (Krista) and grandfather of five: Amanda, Danielle, Ashlyn, Matthew, and Brenna. He is also survived by his sister, Janice White and several cousins. Following graduation from Rogers in 1961, where he was a track and cross-country star, he graduated with an education degree from EWU in 1966. Jim was a dedicated teacher and coach for 48 years teaching fifth and sixth grades at Balboa and Westview elementary schools and after retirement he substituted another 10 years. Jim had a passion for family, cars and coaching including coaching his own sons and grandchildren, neighborhood children, and students in sports through community organizations including YMCA, SYSA, Little League and AAU. He will be fondly remembered by all as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, friend, coach, and mentor. He was an "old-fashioned great guy." The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony and Nancy at Evergreen4Cure, Dr. Call at Cancer Care Northwest, Dr. Byrd for his constant support for Sharon and Marsha from Horizon Hospice for caring for Jim during his final days. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at Turning Point Open Bible Church, 11911 N Division St. at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 28, 2015.
