Leona passed away peacefully after a brief illness with family at her bedside. She was born in So. CA and met and married Raymond Robinson. Being a Robinson at birth, the clerk wanted her maiden name. Ray said, "Can't a Smith marry a Smith?" and a license was issued. Although she hoped to spend her life as a homemaker, she spent most of her life working as an accountant. The last 1/3 she was able to realize that dream for her grandchildren, Jenni and Beth living with Sherri and her husband, Stephen Ross for over 8 years as Sherri traveled for work. Leona loved the arts and painted. She enjoyed the symphony, opera, theater and art museums. She traveled to the South Seas, Panama Canal, Canada, New England and Peru. She was a faithful worker for SVUMC delivering food to the Food Bank for many years on Monday mornings, serving in United Methodist Women as an officer, working in the church office, and transporting friends to church. She was the first to offer help or drive even if it meant taking Jenni or Beth to the airport at dawn or midnight. They bought her a license plate holder that reads, "Grandma's Taxi". She is survived by her daughter, Sherri Robinson, son-in-law, Stephen Ross, grandchildren Jenni and Beth Ross, nieces Sally, Carla, Susan and nephew Mark and their families, numerous extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SVUMC Memorial Fund, Spokane Public TV, or the Food Bank in c/o Spokane Valley Partners.
