[br][br]Imogene (Jean) Lewis Age 86.
Jean was born January 5th, 1928 in Springdale, Arkansas. Passed away peacefully November 5th, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Jean is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bill Lewis. She is also survived by her 3 sons Chuck Westbrook, (Jan), Larry Westbrook (Carrie), and Bob Westbrook. Also by Bill's family, Jack Lewis (Jan), Ken Lewis (Michelle), Frank Lewis (Pat), Claudia Hennen and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Jean learned the art of Southern hospitality and pie-baking as a young teen from her mother. She quickly became a great baker, and began selling her pies to local farm workers to earn a little spending money.
In 1960, Jean was living in California. She went out to a community dance one evening with some friends, and met Bill Lewis. They were married on August 19,1961. Bill worked on a horse ranch in Napa, California, where Jean and Bill became interested in the world of race horses. Both in California and in Washington, they raised several Thoroughbreds, including a champion horse named "Seattle Slewis". Jean loved the horses and going to the track to watch them race.
Jean also enjoyed working at their many hotels, using her gift of hospitality to welcome guests and manage their needs. In her spare time, Jean could be found baking scrumptious cinnamon rolls, yeast rolls and pies - all from scratch! Jean had many friends, and often had them over to play cards at any opportunity, until the wee hours of the morning. She made everyone feel special and gave the true meaning to "Southern hospitality".
A memorial service celebrating Jean's life will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Whitworth Presbyterian Church. 312 W. Hawthorne Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association of Spokane.
