MOORE, SHIRLEY J

[br][br]Shirley (Ziegler) Moore was born in Spokane May 6, 1925, to Ernest L. Ziegler Sr. and Irene A. Ziegler. She attended Willard and Whitman Grade Schools and graduated from Roger's High School in 1943. In 1944 she married Lyle K. Moore, who was in the Army Air Corps. At the end of WWII they moved back to Spokane where they lived until 1951 when Lyle was recalled to active duty with the Air Force. Shirley enjoyed being an Air Force wife for the next 20 years. Living in Germany, France and nine years at Mt. Home, Idaho, where many lifelong friendships were formed. It was in Mt. Home that Shirley learned to golf and compete in tournaments. She brought her love of golf to Spokane in 1966, joined Downriver and Esmeralda Women's Clubs and SAWGA. She was active in local women's golf for many years. More than the many trophies she won, Shirley valued the wonderful friends golf brought into her life. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Lt. Col. Lyle K. Moore; her son David Moore; son Greg Moore (Heather); grandchildren, Karissa Barker (Colin); Stefan and Bryce Moore; brother and sister-in-law Vern and Mary Ziegler; brother and sister-in-law Michael and Newtie Moore; sister-in-law Viola Ziegler; and sister-in-law Mary Moore. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter (Carol Ann Moore); sister (Geraldine Wells); and brother (Ernest L. Ziegler, Jr.). A memorial service will be held at Life Center North Church, 8303 N Division, Spokane WA at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 29th.
