Delores (York) Harrah of Spokane, WA, passed away June 16, 2015. She was born on September 9, 1937 in Gooding, Idaho to Wayne and Macie (Fix) York. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1955. Delores went on to attend Lewis Clark Normal School, Whitworth College and the University of Idaho, where she earned a degree in elementary education in 1959. She taught young children to read for 32 years, the last 29 in the Lakeland School District in Rathdrum, Idaho.
She was an active volunteer in the West Valley School District, assisting as a reading specialist for many years. She enjoyed living next door to her sister during retirement. The two ladies attended Broadway shows, bridge lessons and games, trips with family and many special events together over the years. The favorite destination of the sisters and their families was a summer fishing trip at the Little Wood River in Southern Idaho. Visiting their father's resting place was an important part of the vacation. Delores never missed one year of making this trip.
Delores is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Teri Moore, sister Marie Nesbitt and husband Bob Nesbitt, brother Don York and wife Susan Ann York (Virginia), niece Lori Moen and husband Mark Moen, nephew Rick Nesbitt and wife Katie Nesbitt, niece Jill Weiler and husband Randy Weiler, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews and, as she said many times, "the love of her life," David Anderson.
The family would like to thank the nurses on the oncology floor at Providence Sacred Heart Hospital, Cancer Care Northwest Valley staff, and Hospice House of Spokane for their heartfelt support during a difficult time.
Memorial "Happy Hour" for Aunt Dee will be held Sunday, June 21 between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. For information, please contact family or friends.
